After spending some time on browsing,I found many interesting views about gaming.Now gaming is one of the topmost businesses, which completely depends upon creativity.An interesting thing is that, though world is experiencing economical crisis, gaming sector draws no losses.
Today gaming consoles are playing major roles. We can experience complete gaming online. Gaming developments are done by companies like NINTENDO,SONY,MICROSOFT.Lets jump in to study them in brief.
The first video game console by Magnavox Odyssey(may24,1972) consisted of Atari's pong(monochrome).The next console was made by NINTENDO, JAPAN, was sold in market around 1985 and 1986.This product revolutionized the gaming industry.Some of the incredible games like Mario Bros, Legends of Zelda were sensation then. As time passed by, PC came into existence and NES(nitendo) and Atari went outdated.Other product was released by SEGA Genesis against PC a 16 bit console(advanced 2D graphics processors) in 1989 and eventually NES followed the same path by releasing SNES (a 16 bit console).
In 1995, NES introduced first hand-held gaming console of 32 and 64 bit(3D) as Nintendo N64. SONY entered in to gaming sector by realizing its PLAYSTATION(PS) and as of now, is ruling the market.At the same time, Nintendo came up with GAME-BOY (color) and DREAM-CAST by SEGA(this product was a failure).To cover up losses, Nintendo released its first disk based console called GAME-CUBE but in vain.It couldn't compete with Sony's PlayStation 2 ,released in 2000.PS2 has got good collection in market by its extended graphics and was used by over 132 millions so far.
Later,Microsoft threw its hat into the ring by releasing XBOX enhanced with intel pentium III processor.
It's expected that, a philosophical shift would continue in the next generation gaming, three gaints are yet to come up with their expected releases:PS3, XBOX360,NINTENDO Wii
PS3: It stands on a processor that is custom built for it dubbed CellProcessor which is just in a size of finger nail,made by IBM, which is two generation ahead of PC at that time of release.Cell processor is 3.2 ghz clocked 8core with 256x8 Kb. It is even used by scientists for their super computers.Including a 512MB video memory of 7800GT (ofcourse,its not a good graphic analyzer but processor took up all the responsibilities).A real theater experience by its BLURAY DVDROM.harddisk enabled. But in 2.0 blue-tooth,WiFii with a multiple card adapter and it cus be used as a full fledged PC by OS named YELLOW DOG LINUX.
XBOX360:This is enhanced with a IBM's XENON cell processor with 3cores of 3.2Ghz having 32x3 KB cache.unlike Sony's Nvidea, Microsoft has gone for ATI.This makes GPU,a less power hungry with 10MB embedded RAM,contains DVDROM but it is going to release with BDROM by the end of this year.Hard disks capable. Contains 512 MB video graphic memory.Goes foe XBOX360 LIVE.
NINTENDO wii: Nintendo introduced the new wii (sep 14,2006) depends upon the motion of controller unlike the ps3 and xbox360(as these contains only joysticks).Due ti this we can experience gaming world as we are in that world.Suits best foe children.But gaming processors are not at such a extent but games run at 243MHZ where as ps3 and x box run at 233Mhz.It has nun chuck gaming controller.Enhanced with 324+64 MB graphical memory.
FUTURE GAMING?
x box is planning for body motion tracking consoles, i.e, which tracks body motion and synchronise with the game character.This would be hard for some belly gamers.
stereoscopic 3d games: recently, Nvidea released its stereoscopic 3D technology which requires a high end GPU support.
Brain-computer interface:which need to have just a cap over head to control the game character.This made gaming easy so it would be a challenge for gaming companies to design games.
